Copyright is used to protect literary, musical, artistic works, broadcasts and recordings. It is an automatic right that prevents others from copying the work without permission.
To establish your ownership of copyright, it is important that you keep records showing the development of the product, including details of the designers and the connection between you and the designer.
You can alert people to the existence of your rights by using the copyright symbol, ©, followed by the name of person who owns the copyright the year in which the work was created.
The Intellectual Property Office contains some useful guidelines about copyright law.
